Magic: The Gathering is a famous card game.
There are five colors of magic. White is for order and peace. Blue is for logic and water. Black is for power and death. Red is for chaos and fire. Green is for nature and life.
Magic: The Gathering is a famous tabletop and digital card game. Players act as powerful wizards known as Planeswalkers. Each player uses a special deck of cards to battle. These cards represent magical spells used to gain an advantage. Some cards are spells that work only one time. Other cards are called permanents because they stay on the battlefield. These include creatures, artifacts, enchantments, and even other Planeswalkers.
Playing a game involves careful steps and strategy. First, players shuffle their decks and draw seven cards. On a turn, a player draws a new card. They then use Land cards to produce mana. To show a Land has been used, a player "taps" it by rotating it 90 degrees. This mana is then spent to cast spells from the hand. Most actions follow a rule called "the Stack." This means the last card played is often the first one to work.
Richard Garfield created this game for Wizards of the Coast. It was first released in 1993. Since then, it has become a huge part of gaming history. Between 2008 and 2016, the company printed over twenty billion cards. The game has grown to include about fifty million players. It has also become very successful for the company Hasbro. Some rare cards are so hard to find that they cost tens of thousands of dollars.
There are many ways to play with your cards. In "constructed" formats, you build a deck from cards you own. A standard deck usually has at least sixty cards. In "limited" formats, players build decks from random cards. One fun way to do this is called Booster Draft. In a draft, players pick cards from packs and pass them to neighbors. There are also special rules for a format called Commander. In Commander, players use a 100-card deck and a unique leader.
Magic is organized into five distinct colors.
