James Simon Wallis Hunt was a prominent British racing driver and broadcaster. 
His path to professional racing began with much simpler vehicles. Hunt first learned to drive on a tractor while on holiday in Pembrokeshire, Wales. He found changing gears difficult because he lacked the necessary strength at the time. His formal racing career started in Mini cars, though his early efforts faced challenges. At the Snetterton Circuit, officials prevented him from competing due to irregularities in his car. Hunt eventually funded his own racing by working as a trainee manager for a telephone company. He then moved into Formula Ford in 1968, where he achieved his first win at Lydden Hill.
By 1969, Hunt progressed to Formula Three racing. He drove a Merlyn Mark 11A car supported by a budget from Gowrings of Reading. His success in this category earned him the Grovewood Award, which recognized him as a driver with a promising career. 
Hunt's entry into Formula One began with Hesketh Racing in 1973. The team used a March 731 chassis designed by engineer Harvey Postlethwaite. 
In 1976, Hunt joined the McLaren team, a move facilitated by a deal involving Marlboro. 
Throughout his Formula One career, Hunt accumulated impressive statistics. He achieved a total of 10 race wins across seven different seasons. 
After retiring from the cockpit, Hunt transitioned into a successful media career.
