Many nations have joined the games over the years. In 2018, teams from Algeria and Vietnam joined for the first time. Other new teams came from Myanmar, Pakistan, Sudan, and the Philippines. In 2019, ten countries hosted the games. These were Russia, India, China, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Iran, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. India won the 5th International Army Scout Masters Competition in 2019. Uzbekistan took second place in that same event.

Recent years have seen changes to the schedule. In 2020, Russia won the main competition. Belarus came in second and Uzbekistan came in third. The games were not held in 2023 or 2024. This was because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A Russian official named Alexander Fomin spoke about this. He stated that the games might happen in even years instead. This year also saw new teams from Algeria, Vietnam, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sudan, and the Philippines. The 2019 games were even larger, featuring 32 disciplines across 10 different host countries. These hosts included India, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan, among others. In one specific event, the 5th International Army Scout Masters Competition, India won first place. Uzbekistan took second place, while Russia finished fourth.

Recent editions of the games have shown varying results and participation. In 2020, the competition was held from August 22 to September 5. Russia won the overall competition that year, with Belarus in second place and Uzbekistan in third. In 2022, new nations like Bolivia and Rwanda participated for the first time. The games have also seen participation from diverse groups, including Greece, which was the only NATO member state to officially participate.

However, global conflicts can interrupt these scheduled events. The games were not held in 2023 or 2024 due to shortages stemming from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Because of these changes, the future schedule may shift. In 2023, Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Alexander Fomin stated that the games might take place in even years instead. This shows how international relations and conflicts can directly affect large-scale global traditions and sporting events.
