He was a man of deep personal beliefs and once expressed a wish to be reborn as an eagle. His professional estate was valued at over half a billion German marks, roughly 256 million euros. This wealth reflected his immense success in the recording industry.
Karajan passed away from a heart attack on July 16, 1989, at age 81.
