Studies show that using real specimens helps students retain information better than using simulations alone. Many educators believe the future will be a mix of traditional methods and computer learning. This combination helps students master anatomy, which is known to be a very difficult subject. In surgery, the term "dissecting" also refers to the careful separation of an organ or nerve from surrounding tissue to prevent damage during an operation.
