The city receives about 1,700 millimeters of rain every year. A rare event occurred in the winter of 1982 when the city saw snow. This was only the second time snow was recorded in the country.
Tourism is a major part of life in the Triple Frontier. Visitors come for shopping, but they also visit natural wonders. The Itaipú Dam is located only 20 km to the north.
