Paré's career was marked by many unique medical observations and experiments. In 1542, during the siege of Perpignan, he helped solve a difficult bullet extraction. A soldier had a bullet lodged in his shoulder that was hard to find. Paré instructed the man to mimic the exact physical position he held when he was shot. This allowed the surgeon, Nicole Lavernault, to locate and remove the bullet. In 1567, Paré conducted an experiment regarding bezoar stones. Many people believed these stones could cure any poison. Paré tested this by observing a cook who was poisoned. The cook took a bezoar stone but died seven hours later, proving the stone was not a universal cure.

He also made significant contributions to the field of obstetrics, which is the branch of medicine dealing with childbirth. Paré revived the practice of podalic version. This is a technique used to help deliver an infant safely by turning the baby during birth. Before this, surgeons sometimes had to use much more violent methods to extract an infant. Paré's work in this area influenced the education of important figures, such as the royal midwife Louise Boursier. He also introduced the practice of lancing an infant's gums during teething. He believed that teeth could not emerge without a pathway, a theory that remained in use for centuries.

Paré was also an innovator in the field of prosthetics and ocular care. He designed artificial limbs to help patients who had undergone amputations.
