Between 1919 and 1932, over 300 Junkers F.13 aircraft were built for business travelers and commercial operators.
By the 1930s, the airliner industry had matured into a global system. Large consolidated national airlines like United Airlines, Lufthansa, and KLM began offering regular international services. The Douglas DC-3, which appeared in 1935, was a major milestone. It could carry between 21 and 32 passengers and was one of the first airliners to be profitable without government or postal subsidies. 
Modern aviation continues to evolve through advanced engineering and infrastructure. The development of airliners has led to specialized components like baggage compartments and overhead bins for passenger convenience.
